ActivityPub Relay

A relay acts as an intermediary between servers using the ActivityPub protocol. Servers can subscribe to a relay and publish all public posts to it, receiving all public posts it receives from others in turn.

New and smaller servers who are not well connected within the Fediverse can use a relay to get more posts in the federated timeline and more hashtag results. On the other side the server requires more storage and compute resources. Adding a relay to your server is optional.

This relay service is funded by Mastodon hosting.

Terms and Content

We do not accept servers that promote or that become a gathering of users around the following topics:

1. Discrimination, including (but not limited to) racism, sexism, homophobia or transphobia.
2. Explicit (NSFW) content, pornographic or obscene material.
3. Harassment of other users on this or other servers.
4. Content illegal in the following countries: US, United Kingdom, Finland, Germany
5. Incitement of violence or promotion of violent ideologies.
6. Disinformation regarding public health issues or political/military campaigns.
7. Spam. This includes commercial advertising, promotional campaigns, and SEO.
8. Impersonation of other individuals, public figures or organisations, unless clearly marked as a parody.
